Housing

The Environmental Performance Certificate (part of the Home Information Pack) requires all homes be carbon neutral by 2016.

  • Construction of new homes and flats accounts for 27% of the UK?s carbon emissions and the way we heat and maintain our homes adds another 27%.
  • Old homes loose 35% heat through walls, 25% through the roof and 25% through doors, windows & 15% through floors.
Environmental obligations can be found on the Netregs site.

A recent survey conducted by YouGove for Netregs revealed that small business owners are increasingly concerned about the environment. Three quarters of SMEs believed good environmental practice was important and nearly 4/5ths know more about environmental issues than they did 5 years ago. In the construction industry, nearly 80% were concerned about waste disposal and saw this issue as a problem. However it was revealed that many businesses are unaware of their obligations.
